Lindsey BarnesI first judged Rhodesian Ridgebacks in 1988 and obtained my first CC appointment at Bath in 1997. In 1999 I judged the most prestigious and unique Group show in England, the Hound Association's Championship Show and the Champion Club Match (CACs) in Garderen, Holland. I gave CACIBs for the first time at the Knologenclub de Kempen, Eindhoven in Holland in 2007. I have judged in England, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, France, Australia and Sweden. My total number of ridgebacks judged is over 1000. We were Top Breeders 2005 and Breeders and Owners of the Top Brood Bitch 2005 Diamondridge Royal Gold. In breeding and judging I believe that a Rhodesian Ridgeback is first and foremost an endurance hound and that it is essential that they have the conformation to do the job for which they were originally intended. I believe selection should be based on balance, good type, sound temperament and conformation. Free and elastic movement with reach and drive in profile, accompanied by true action coming and going is hard to find and should be rewarded. Only when these fundamentals are in evidence can a judge or breeder have the luxury of selecting on finer breed points. When these are in abundance you have a great dog.
